Great place to eat and get bread! We really enjoyed our time and meal here. It was a bit pricey but I didn't have one item that wasn't delicious.

We came in late but there were still many goodies. As we were just looking for a small bite before dinner, our choice fell on the almond croissant. It was pretty good, flaky and how the filling tasted. There was just the right amount of almond extract in it. However, the filling was just a little for that big croissant. I'd have loved a little more. The ambiance is ok. The bright white light are less inviting and flattering on the baked goods. I find it a little odd how the baked goods were displayed as the display items were dried out and not too appealing. Prices are ok for these beautiful pastries.

Wow, some of the most delicious pastries I've ever had!! The flavors in the Petit CroGel Norwegian were absolutely delicious. Very balanced in flavor and texture, with mixed greens adding freshness, but not overwhelming the salmon or pastry flavor. The Nutella Croissant was absolutely delicious as well, and very large. The hot cocoa was yummy as well (I got oat milk with extra vanilla). Everything in this shop looked amazing, I wish I could've gotten one of everything! Unfortunately, the prices are quite high here, but that is to be expected in an Old Town bakery, especially with goods as high quality as this. The restaurant had some small indoor and outdoor seating, which was nice. The employee who helped us was incredibly friendly, and they got our pastries and drinks right away! We were even given a free croissant, due to a small mix up--very kind! I will definitely be back in the future.

Fresh Baguette in Alexandria, Virginia, beckons with the allure of a Parisian market, its shelves overflowing with crusty baguettes, decadent pastries, and a treasure trove of imported French delights. Long lines snake around the shop, testaments to its popularity, but the efficient staff keeps things moving at a brisk pace. My recent visit, however, was a tale of two experiences, ultimately landing at a 4-star rating. The draw is undeniable. From buttery croissants to artisanal cheeses, Fresh Baguette offers a symphony of French flavors, a mini-Eiffel Tower rising amidst the bustle of Alexandria. And for the budget-conscious gourmand, the prices on foie gras mousse and pork pate sing a sweeter tune than a Parisian street musician. Even Amazon pales in comparison. But amidst the promise, inconsistency lurked. My ham and cheese croissant, the supposed star of the show, arrived more oil-laden than expected, its buttery layers lacking the coveted crackle. My cappuccino, while competent, failed to ignite the passion of a perfectly pulled Parisian shot. And then there was the bread, the very soul of a French bakery. The Parisian baguette, the crown jewel, shattered my dreams of crusty perfection with its rock-solid reality. Even reheating couldn't coax it back to life. The sourdough, though hopeful with its golden crust, harbored a dense, potentially stale interior that left me yearning for the airy tang of a true sourdough soul. So, Fresh Baguette stands at a crossroads. Its strengths - the swift service, the delectable pantry finds, the siren song of affordability - are undeniable. But the inconsistencies in its core offerings, the baked goods that are supposed to be its heart and soul, leave a lingering question mark. Perhaps it was an off day, a momentary lapse in the boulangerie's rhythm. Perhaps another visit will yield the symphony of flavors I crave. For now, Fresh Baguette remains a place of potential, a charming boulangerie with a touch of Parisian flair. If you venture in, I suggest focusing on the pantry's treasures and giving the pastries another chance, hoping for a fresher, crispier rendition. With a little more consistency, Fresh Baguette could truly live up to its name, becoming a haven for French food lovers in the heart of Alexandria. Just remember, a truly great croissant should never leave you feeling blue.

Fresh Baguette is one of the cafes/restaurants that makes me feel lucky that I live in the DMV area! If I lived anywhere else, I'd bookmark it and keep craving for it and wish to visit the area and try! Thank God they are here where I live! :) I've a very detailed review of their products at the McLean location, which was my first interaction with the chain! The only bad thing with Fresh Baguette is that they aren't everywhere !! You guys better expand! lol Of course, the Crogel is an invention by all means! Don't miss it!!! The Brew Club is a must. If you work or live near any of their locations for about $11-$12, you get 5 espresso drinks per day every day during the month! It pays itself after 2 or 3 drinks! Very good quality! It's not the best espresso, to be honest, but it's not bad either! ( Yeah, you guys need better beans!) Old town Alexandria is my favorite spot in the U.S. !! I feel connected! I feel home, and I feel beauty and love, so I love it when my favorite chains open there! I can say this is my favorite Fresh Baguette location! Staff are very friendly, and the standards of Fresh Baguette chain are obviously enforced here! Love it I love the outdoor seats when weather permits, or I love sitting next to the window during the cold or too hot weather One more thing I wish if Fresh Baguette could pay attention to is the Parisian ( Ham & Cheese ) , I wish if they use more French brand like the Madrange and Comté or Gruyère and not the Swiss! The sandwich will be in a totally different rank! Because really they have the best Baguette ever and use good butter, so why not make it the best?? ;) Please consider it! Try it, vote for the review , message me, or compliment me with any comment or question, and don't forget to ... Pray for me ;)

Wow! What a cute little bakery. I have never seen anything like this before. I don't know, because I have never been to France, but it felt very French. Loafs of bread lining the walls, beautiful display cases full of delicate pastries that you only really see on Netflix. Quaint, cute, with a nice aroma wafting throughout. We walked in off the street one day, and started the immense task of browsing. We ended up picking three delectable-looking things. We started off with the obvious, Chocolate Éclair (A fluffy shell filling with chocolate pastry cream and topped with rich chocolate fondant). Delicate, perfect ooey gooey cream inside, and a nice pop of fondant with each bite, as well. Very good. Then I looked and saw the Cannelé (This ancient French treat is baked in a copper mold giving it a caramelized outer crust while remaining moist and spongy on the inside. Made with crepe dough with a hint of rum). This was a fun little thing. Compact, dense, but very moist and with that aforementioned crust on the outside. Never had anything like this. I was a fan! I finished off with the Kouign Amann (A tradition from the Brittany region of France. Buttery, flaky, sweet layers topped with a delicate caramel shell. The name translates to butter cake). This thing was wild. Not a ton of flavor, just a touch of sweetness from the caramel shell, but the flakes upon flakes upon flakes. Also never had anything like this before. Wow! Overall, this place was a wild ride. I am pretty sure I don't have anything like this near me, so I should have gone back and tried new things. Now I have reason to return to Alexandria.

Pros: Wonderful location that's very walkable no matter where you park in this Old Town area of town. The atmosphere is perfectly bakery as you walk in. You know what you are in for, and you can't wait to look at all of the options to purchase. An amazing selection, things for chocoholics, fruit lovers, bread lovers, and a few old school options you don't see around very much. Wonderful service. Very polite people who were always smiling. Cons: No critiques. Maybe that I wish there was an all you can eat option. Lol. Tips: Chocolate éclair, cannelé, kouign amann. All delicious. Get them all, and more.

Came here with my boss for a coffee and a little snack before dinner. Decided to get the petit sunny side up sandwich. It was delicious. This place is not inexpensive however what we had was wonderful. I would absolutely go back. The inside is very clean just a little small and can be a bit loud if full. There are a few seats outside as well.
